DIASPORA DIALOGUES LAUNCHES NEW YOUTH MENTORING PROGRAM WITH OPEN CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
Looking for young emerging writers of short stories, poetry and creative nonfiction in the GTA.

(TORONTO) Diaspora Dialogues (DD) is excited to announce its first annual creative writing mentoring program for writers aged 16-25 years old.

Based on the same model as Diaspora Dialogues’ successful publishing/mentoring program for emerging writers in the GTA, now in its seventh year, we’re inviting submissions of short stories or creative non-fiction less than 3,000 words in length; or up to 5 poems, with each poem being no more than 75 lines from writers between the ages of 16 and 25 inclusive. Diaspora Dialogues LitToronto Map contest

Calling all writers! Toronto is a city of a million different stories – and we want to map them all. Give us your place-specific flash fiction or your haikus, and the best ones will win a prize. NEW deadline: October 15, 2011.

How do I enter and who is judging?
First, write your piece of flash fiction (300 words or less) or your haiku. Then, submit it to us via the form on the map site. (All stories and poetry will be reviewed by Diaspora Dialogues within 24 hours before going live.) The contest will close on October 15, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. Decisions will be announced by October 21, 2011. Read more…
