Have you ever wanted to see theatrical performances? Do you want to go but are worried about going on your own? Would you like to go with other youth as curious as you? Would you like to go for free?

We can make it happen. Welcome to Intermission. We are a youth-led program that brings Toronto’s youth (newcomers and youth in need, ages 16-25) to the theatre. Not only do you get to see the performances free, you get to engage in talk-backs with the artists, to participate in workshops to explore your own reactions to the show, to create your own works of art for presentation and fun, and to intensely discuss the work with other youth. AKIN Collective is a 2000 sq.ft. art studio and event space near the Gladstone Hotel at Queen and Dufferin.
Membership to the studio is $50/month and with this comes 24/7 access to the space and its facilities, which include easles, drafting tables, workbenches, silk screening gear and a sewing machine. If you would like a permanent desk or wall and floor space the cost is $200/month, again, for 24/7 access. Read more…

The ideal candidate would have:
- An astute, almost obsessive eye for detail, consistency, spelling and grammar, without letting it slow down your pace.
- The ability to execute clear, step-by-step directions and multiple changes without an artist’s ego getting in the way.
- You should have an unlimited scope for generating new creative ideas for exciting projects, but be okay with undertaking mundane tasks once in awhile without getting bored and losing focus.
- The ability to work quickly, juggle shifting priorities and urgent jobs. You should thrive in a fast-paced, high pressured environment that’s not always the quietest (but fun!).
- A real interest in entertainment (in particular, film). Read more…
